I’ve uploaded another theme that includes a comic section. I swear that someday I’m going to start posting some comics! LOL

So, we’ve been kinda getting ready for Christmas. I’ve been a bit of a Scrooge by having to work extra hours so my Christmas to-do list isn’t finished yet. It seems that the servers all decided to take THEIR vacation early and I’ve had hard drives failing all over! Heather has been baking and decorating and wrapping like crazy. Next year I’ll have an extra week’s vacation and I’m thinking about taking the entire end of December off to de-stress and escape to some town with no mall
Nathan and Joyce come into town at the end of the week. We’re also going to have Mark and Ruth here, so it will be a full house. Maybe I’ll have the lights in the windows by then!
Just wanted to be sure to note that we got several photos up on the gallery. Be sure to take a look.
I left for work before Caleb woke up yesterday. I took a peak at him sleeping to make sure he was alright before I left for work. That moment of peace before I left was one of the best parts of my day.
Work didn’t go so well. Our mail server has a hard drive that is going bad, and I ended up staying till after 1 AM to fix it. Thankfully, Heather was a wonderful wife and waited up for me and was baking when I arrived home. Getting to talk to her (even in my drowsy state) was the other best part of my day. We got to talk while she mixed another batch of batter and she told me all about their day together. She has really gotten into baking and has been making fabulous treats for our family and others. Yesterday she and Caleb took some pumpkin bread to the fire department. Caleb got to see the small truck and the big engine with the ladder and hoses. They even let him sit in the driver seat of the engine and turned the lights on for him.
On my way to bed at almost 2 AM, I took another peak at my son. He was sound asleep and a bit congested. His little night time snores are precious. After a few hours sleep myself, it was back to work for me. Caleb was still asleep. He won’t have seen me for almost 2 days when I get home tonight. I’m so thankful that I’ve got a job that typically gets me home in time to have dinner with the family.
I FOUND IT! My watch was not flushed down the toilet around a year ago as I had suspected. Caleb, when you read this years from now, I’m sorry I assumed you had flushed it. You did throw my keys in the toilet back then… so I had some foundation for my assumption.
So here’s the story. We moved the old hide-a-bed couch (the most uncomfortable thing you’ve ever sat on) into the study in anticipation of bringing the HUGE leather couch back from my parents. We had stored that one at their house because it makes the living room feel even narrower than it already is which is not a good thing when you are thinking about selling your house. Did I mention it’s HUGE! Ends up that we had a few days were there was no couch in the living room, and I would sit on the floor (where a couch used to be) so Heather could sit in the comfy chair… chivalry in action
At the end of one evening, I looked over to the side table and the container under it. Every time I had looked for my watch in the past, I always looked in the side table drawer, but I realized I had never looked in the container. I pulled it out and there were several things we had been missing… including my watch. It’s less than 2 years old and the battery is already dead, but I now have my watch again. I can only assume that I went on a cleaning spree a year ago, and by cleaning spree I mean stacking everything in small piles and moving those piles around the house. You know… “guy cleaning”!
Lucky You! If you’re reading this it means you got here JUST in time! If you had been any sooner, I might not have posted this. Of course, a month from now when I haven’t posted anything else, that line won’t be as meaningful.
Anyway! I’ve posted a bunch of photos of the past several weeks, including Caleb’s birthday party pics. You’ve got to check out the Blue’s Clues Ears (Heather’s creation).
So we’ve officially got a 2 year old under roof now, but thankfully he is a joy… the terrible twos haven’t hit us yet (knock on wood). Speaking of roof, if you had heard that we were moving, then you are due for an update. We’ve gotten rid of most of our excess spending, paid off a few things and have decided to stay in our current house (thus the roof reference). Heather is home full time with Caleb now, and it’s amazing the effect it is having for Caleb. He’s happier, more playful (as if it were possible) and is advancing faster than he was in daycare. That’s saying a LOT, because the daycare he was in was excellent and they really helped us to develop him into the boy he is today. But his vocabulary and abilities have taken a HUGE leap in the past few weeks thanks to Heather.
In other news, the two of them are currently at the beach with my family (I’m still in Atlanta). I was worried about Caleb since the last time we went to the beach, he didn’t enjoy the sand very much. He’s always been particular about things getting on his feet, and sand has a way of doing that rather well. Thankfully, Heather said he was hesitant at first, but by the end of the first day, he was running around and was even having a blast in the water. I’ll be sure to post some pictures after the vacation.
It seems that I can’t use Youtube for this site. I tried to set the videos to private over there, so that they would only be visible here. Unfortunately, that means that you have to be logged in on Youtube and authorized to view the video. WAY too much work. So, I’m trying another method now:
Caleb calls his frozen treats icicles. He also uses that word when he sees a motorcycle.

At Terrell Mill Park they have a twisty slide that Caleb just loves!

Sorry to those who use Internet Explorer. The images at the top of each post were not displaying as intended. I’ve fixed it and hopefully everything looks correct now. Let me know what you think of the current look by leaving a comment in the Guests section (see link above).
Where to begin?!?
We spent last week in North Myrtle Beach. The place we stay at is amazing and the weather couldn’t have been better. It was very relaxing and we had a great time with my family (pictures to follow). On the way back we got to stop in Augusta and spend some time with Gaga Sandy and Papa Paul (Heather’s Aunt and Uncle for those who don’t know).
Unfortunately, vacations end and that means playing catch-up on all the things that pop up while you are away. For me, that meant a very long day on Tuesday. Honestly it’s felt like a very long week, and there’s still one more day left.
So, let’s think of some of the important things that have happened since my last post. Hmm… honestly, I got NOTHIN’! I don’t get it. I read all these other blogs where people are having fantastical adventures and amazing events. I feel a bit bland in comparison. 8+ hours in a cubical followed by house work and an hour or two of family time at night. I feel so… grown up!
Mental note: must do something wild and crazy to make self feel younger. Research tattoos and skydiving (just kidding mom).
