Weekends… the lack there of
I used to write witty prose and everyone came here to read them. What happened!?! I think it has a lot to do with the rushed nature of our lives these days. Weekends are supposed to be a respite, a pause after a week of hard work. Now it’s more about catching up on all the things we didn’t get done during the week. Someone once told me that there is a perfect balance that we should aim for.
- 8 hours of rest a day
- 8 hours of work a day
- 8 hours to be with our friends and family
Sounds nice…doesn’t it. We haven’t had a free day to spend with family and friends for around 3 months. Every weekend has been filled with something that pulls us this way and that. It’s crazy I tell ya!
In the moments of free time I HAVE had during the day I’ve been able to play around with the site design. I’m not sure I’m happy with it, but for now this is the look.
This past Saturday we went to the Christmas Party for Heather’s work(or Holiday party if you happen to be part of that war on Christmas I’ve heard so much about). Caleb spend the night with some friends of ours, so we were able to relax and enjoy an evening as adults. I really had forgotten how much it means to have that.
Sunday, we got a bomb shell from our pastor who is resigning at the end of the year. We both love him and his family and we’ve always loved his sermons. He has a talent for speaking in a way that touches each person in a unique way. I often feel that the words are spoken just for me. So if you know of a church that is looking for a pastor or similar position, please get in touch with me.
Caleb is still amazing us every day. He grasps concepts that I never thought he would at this age. His speech and understanding is improving every day. Most of all, he loves to get up in your lap and just snuggle in… something that I desperately need at then end of a long day. He is truly a joy. Oh, and last night the cat let him pet her… something that made his just giggle with glee.
Just for historical record, here are a few of the words/concepts he understands:
- ball
- star
- ba ba (bottle)
- dink (drink)
- more (including the sign language)
- woof woof and doggie
- kitty
- colors…sometimes (blue, green, red, orange)
- mama and dada (he gets these confused sometimes)
- thank you
- he can point to nose, ear, and belly button
- down (one of his favorites)
- Hey and Hi (this one automatically makes you smile when you come home)
- bye-bye (most of the time he says this 2 minutes after we leave somewhere)
- knows how to talk on a phone (including redialing Nana several times)
I’m sure there is so much more that I don’t recall right now. Needless to say… he is our pride-and-joy.
