Renewed Vigor
I stayed home from work yesterday. I had gotten pretty sick during the night and ended up sleeping most of the day. I think it was one of those days that your body says “if you won’t take care of yourself, I’m shutting down shop for the day”. Needless to say, I needed the sleep… and I feel SO much better today because of it.
So today I came into work with a renewed vigor… that lasted about 30 minutes. I don’t know what it is in my personality, but I really wish I could pin it down. When I’m given short term tasks, I joyfully knock them out quicker than anyone ever expects. But when it comes to a long term project, I just never seem to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s an odd feeling. I know I could probably be done with this project in just a few days time… and that it would be a great weight off my shoulders. For some reason I procrastinate and find other little projects to take up my day instead.
Obviously it’s not a very healthy attitude in a work setting.
So, maybe by telling all of you what’s going on in my head… just maybe I’ll understand myself a little better.
Alrighty… quick run down of household events:
- Heather has been super busy, but I think things are about to turn a corner for her. Hopefully she’ll post here and give you all an update in her own words soon.
- Caleb has another ear infection which the doctor says is partly due to night time feedings. So from now on, he doesn’t get a bottle in bed.
- My mom’s birthday is this Saturday. We’re going over there sometime this weekend to have a nice dinner with the family.
- I got to talk to my grandmother this week. I don’t call her enough, and it was great to have a full conversation with her. She told me all about recent things she’d done, and I got to tell her all about our family’s daily happenings. It was great.
- I finally got a template together for the comic that I think I can use. I’d consider the comic one of those long term projects that I keep putting aside. This one is very strange; because I really enjoy the process… it’s the long term aspect that scares me. *shrug* … so I’m weird… so what!
I hope everyone enjoyed the “Real Life” comic. Greg Dean’s humor is pure genius in my mind. Some day I’ll write a list of my favorite online comics. Then you’ll see how much time I waste each week reading the “funnies”.
till next time,
Patrick
