And the beat goes on

“thump…… long pause….. thump” Ok, I’ll admite that I’m very bad at coming up with a noise that equates to a contraction.

Repetitive contractions aren’t labor. They say you should learn one new thing every day. So just in case you didn’t know that fact, you’re done for the day… no need to learn anything else.

Contractions aren’t called “labor” until they are 5 minutes apart for a length of 1 hour. That’s our doctor’s definition at least. Your doctor may say differently. I’m sure it varies the further you are from the hospital :)

Right now, Caleb and Heather are getting to practice what labor will be like though… just at 1 hour intervals. The doctor said she doubts we’ll make it to the 11th now, but if we do… we have the option of inducing on the 12th. We WILL be using this option at that time.

In the mean time, we’ve started to listen to “old wives” tell tales, specifically about inducing labor. So last night we went to Scalini’s Italian Restaurant for an order of their Eggplant Parmesan. If you’ve never heard of this place, they have the reputation of putting pregnant women into labor within 48 hours of eatting the Eggplant Parm. Now, they say it works best if you wait till your due date, but they’ve had over 300 success stories incluing some who wanted the baby to come a bit early, so they must be doing something right.

The place was nothing like we thought it would be. I have to say that it tops any Italian restaurant I’ve been to in some time. That rating has a lot to do with the fact that they use a whole bulb of garlic for every bowl of garlic bread. You read that right… a BULB (at least that’s what it looks like to me). I highly recommend Scalini’s for anyone (pregnant or not) in the Marietta/Smyrna area. It’s some tasty stuff.

I woke up this morning with the odd realization that I’d make a terrible vampire. I love Italian food too much. Those poor Italian vampires have it rough.

So Scalini’s has till 9PM Saturday for their eggplant to go to work. Till then, we may try driving around and finding as many speed bumps as possible… and the beat goes on… “thump thump…. thump thump”
