Happy Holiday!

Happy 4th Weekend!!!

As you can see, I’m getting the site into the spirit of the holiday. Most of my family will be in Chattanooga this weekend. Heather, her mother and I will be hanging out at home for the most part. I think I’m going to use the free time to get all the piles of paper in the office organized.

Last night we went and returned some stuff to Babys R Us and got a Pack ‘n Play. Let me be the first to tell you, while the Play portion of that name will be proven by our “soon-to-be-born”, the term Pack has taken on some horrible translation error, or is just a bold faced LIE! First off, the term Pack ‘n Play gives me the mental image of a wonderful device that a mother could toss over her shoulder and head out the door. If Heather attempts to toss this item ANYWHERE, pulled muscles will be involved. The behemoth weighs in at around 50 pounds. That’s not 50 lbs. of light fluffy marshmallows, but rather 50 pounds of wet concrete. Opening it up reminded me of an Abbott and Costello routine. I got one side in place, and it promptly fell while I was messing with the other side. Okay, maybe it wasn’t THAT bad… but it definitely isn’t the joy-filled item I envisioned. But once it is in place, it is a beautiful thing to behold. A designer baby prison is now taking up 12 square feet of living room. I think my parents put me in something similar, but back then it involved sharp edges and cardboard bottoms. They’ve come a long way in their design, and somewhere in that design is some wet concrete I haven’t found yet.
