We went to get the sonogram done yesterday and we were able to find out the sex of the baby. It’s a BOY! We weren’t really wanting one or the other, but we are glad to know. Now we can decorate and start to get clothing for a boy. The baby was 11 ounces (estimated based on measurements). We didn’t really find out if that’s big/small/perfect for this point in the pregnancy, but the doctor said that everything looked great and that there aren’t any visible problems.
We were able to video tape the procedure, and I’ve uploaded a few clips here. The first one is the baby’s heartbeat, the second one is longer and includes closeups on head, feet, hands and heart. (You will need Windows Media Player or a WMV viewer to view these files).

We’ve got copies of it everywhere… it’s the baby’s first picture. It’s amazing to look at it every day, I’ve got one on the bathroom mirror, one on my computer’s desktop, one on my board in my cubical. I see the baby all the time.
But today I realized how much he/she (we’ll find out which on Friday) has changed since that picture was taken. Only three weeks old, and it’s already a historical document… not an accurate picture of how baby looks now. All the changes going on, all that growth occuring… every new day is a miracle. July feels like it’s coming so soon. It’s exciting, and a little bit scary. I just keep looking at the picture, and realizing that our child is on the way. That makes me smile every time.

The beat goes on… how poetic is that. I was almost too late to today’s doctor’s appointment… and I almost missed hearing my baby’s heartbeat. But I made it… and I heard it… and it was amazing!!!!
Everything baby-wise is going smoothly, with the next sonogram in just a week.
And baby heartbeats are amazing!!!

It’s amazing how hard it is to keep up a web journal. I don’t know if that is because of a dull life or just not knowing what to say. Things at the Lawrence household are going along pretty much the same as they always do. We both are so tired when we get home, it’s hard to get into any of our “honey-do” projects.
We’ve got some family coming into town on Saturday, meaning that we need to clean the place up by then. Not that the house is really dirty… we just haven’t found a place for everything yet. So boxes/piles of random stuff are laying around everywhere, which makes the house look really cluttered. We’ve taken one step in the right direction; all the artwork is now where we want it (well…each piece is on the floor in front of the wall that we want it on). And thankfully, the same pictures that covered our apartment walls look like they will work pretty well in the house.
I can’t wait to get the place cleaned up so we can take some new photos of the “finished” interior. I don’t think it will ever be finished with an interior designer living in the house, because she is always coming up with new creative ideas for one room or the other.
Our friend John is fighting back hard against the cancer, and has created a live journal of his own. He’s been medicated, so some of the posts are a bit “different”.
That about does it… I’m sitting here at work, completely out of energy at 2 PM in the afternoon. Time for a nap!
