Feeling Better

January 28th, 2005

Just for those reading along at home. I’m feeling back to normal, with the occassional cough to clear my throat, and Heather is probably a couple days out from feeling back to normal… well… normal + pregnant. The high temperature today was 38… and it’s already been hit. Right now it’s 34 and dropping, with 1/2″ of ice expected tonight.

We’re headed to Stone Mountain tomorrow to see the twin babies (my sister’s kids) and of course, their parents and grandparents too.

The Philosophy of Sick Days

January 21st, 2005

Since being sick seems to be the only topic around our house, naturally the mind wanders to the policy of office sick days. My company (at least my immediate boss) has what I consider a wise policy… “if you are sick, stay home… and don’t give it to the rest of us!”

It makes a lot of sense, and thankfully on a day like today, where I’m still coughing like crazy but otherwise feel 50%, I’m glad that my company would rather have me stay home and get well instead of come in and cough on everyone and they’re keyboards.

On the other hand, it feels very odd to have only worked roughly 7 days so far this year because of vacation and sick days.

Oh well, we’re both slowly getting better, even though mid-cough it feels like we’re going to loose a lung. Wish us luck on a speedy recovery. We’ve got to get well soon or this journal isn’t going to be very interesting!

Updated the website look

January 20th, 2005

Sick Sick Sick Sick Sick!

Heather and I both stayed home from work today. I went to the doctor in the morning and we’ve both been taking it easy today. It’s a beautiful winter day and sadly we have no energy to get outside. That’s probably for the best though, as what we really need is sleep.

On the positive side, a day with your spouse is a great day… no matter how you feel. More to come tomorrow. And staying home gave me time to update the website look. I took several elements of several sites, so by no means is it original. But I like how it turned out. The menu on the right will probably be updated, and I’d like to seperate out the individual posts into seperate windows, which I’ll probably do when I feel better.

And the Cough goes on

January 19th, 2005

Heather and I have both been worn out because of this cold. I don’t think either of us has been sleeping very well. I know I haven’t been. So, last night I was busy working late on the design for this site. Hopefully I’ll have it finished up by the end of tonight.

We’ve set a few short term goals for ourselves… trying to get the house in order. The office is finally going to get completely unpacked. I don’t think we’ll get everything organized for some time, but at least the boxes will be out of the way. Crawling over everything to get to the computer is really silly. We also need to put the Christmas decorations away. Amazingly, we actually shoved them into one oom, but they will stay there forever unless we move them soon.

In news today (just to give some reference when we look back at this) Condoleezza Rice was approved by the Senate committee as Secretary of State and President Bush’s Second Inauguration happens tomorrow.

Baby’s First Picture

January 17th, 2005

Well, we went to the doctor last week (i.e. before the weekend of endless coughing) and got to see the little one up close and personal. At 14 weeks 3 days, it was too early to find out what we are having (boy or girl), but the baby was active and, in my humble opinion, looked very happy. Take a look yourself and see what you think:
